Wellington based composers Plan 9 (David Donaldson, Janet Roddick and Steve Roche) have scored music for an impressive array of film, television and theatrical & installation projects. They have just completed their 11th feature film score. Predicament was performed by Plan 9 with the NZ Symphony Orchestra and the film is due for release in mid 2010. They were commissioned to create the music for the NZ Pavillion at the Shanghai World Expo which opens May 1.
Recent work includes Paul Murphy's feature Second Hand Wedding, TV series Orangutan Island for Animal Planet and I Survived... now in its third series for A&ETV/Bio Channel. Later in 2010 they will score the spin off series entitled I Survived...Beyond And Back.
In 2008 the team scored features Diagnosis Death and Taking The Waewae Express as well as Lovely Rita — Gaylene Preston's feature doco on artist Rita Angus.
With David Long they wrote music and created musical sound design for The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy and King Kong and their music was used in The Lovely Bones.
They have twice won Best Feature Film Score at the NZ Film & Television Awards for Saving Grace and Jack Brown Genius, as well as being finalists for Jubilee and Perfect Strangers (film), Forgotten Silver and Earthquake (tv).
